Making New Friends Out Of Old Friends

Saturday night I got to spend the evening, well maybe into the night, okay wayyyy into the night, with an old friend. We've known eachother since we were in our early teens when we were in the same high school sorority. Though we were not all that close, our paths have crossed many times at Nascar races and high school reunions (official and unofficial) over the years.

Her life is quite different from mine. She's married with an amazing kid. I'm single with an amazingly lazy dog.

We've tried and failed a few times to get together for drinks or dinner, but this time the stars were aligned properly and we both found ourselves with a free night, and most importantly, she convinced her hubby to babysit.

We had a night of girl-talk, pizza, bourbon (and even some tequila) and our mutual love; music dvds. We discussed everything from losing weight to men to migraines to politics. After what seemed like 3 hours, she left. Let me clear that up - after what was really 8 hours, she left. Yup. For old ladies, we rock. It was fantastic getting to spend one-on-one time with her. I feel we've bonded. And it's a great feeling. I feel like I have a new friend. Yeah, a new one.

Everyone repeat after me: Awwwwwwwwww.

On some other notes:
Are wasabi peas fattening?
Is Britney Spears the next Anna Nicole Smith?
Where can I get a wife to fix stuff around my house while I'm at work AND fix dinner for me so I don't have to live on Triscuits?
Aren't fish tacos divine?
How does a person learn to order at Starbucks?
Whaddya think of the daily puppy pics I've added?
Are your lips as chapped as mine?

While I'm finding my Blistex, please leave me a comment. I'm feeling a bit at loose-ends right now. Tootles!

"reunited and it feels so good..." lol Sorry your post made me think of that song...Sometimes all someone needs is a great conversation with a good friend. And Fish Tacos are gross(sorry)

If you figure out where to get a wife, let me know--I could use one, too! LOL.

Britney - Yes
Lips - Yes

I always thought that fish tacos sounded gross. But when I went to California my friend ordered them for me. OH MY GOODNESS they are so good. The crappy thing is that I can't find a resturant that makes them where I live. And I live on Lake Michigan ! For gods sake you'd think we'd have FISH!!

Bastards.

Boo Boo - It's taken me about 2 hours to figure out what song you were talking about...and ewwww, thanks for getting that stuck in my head for all eternity now. Or at least until lunchtime.

Swishy - I'd put an ad in the paper, but I can't figure out how to word it so that it doesn't go in the personals section, lesbian subcategory.

Lindy - In a pinch, you could improvise. Frozen fish sticks, some grated cabbage and stuff (what do they put in there anyway?) and put in a tortilla. Voila. Cheater Fish Tacos.

YEA FOR OLD LADIES!! ;-)

Are wasabi peas fattening? Don't know, but doesn't spicy rev up the metabolism?

Is Britney Spears the next Anna Nicole Smith? Looks like it.

Where can I get a wife to fix stuff around my house while I'm at work AND fix dinner for me so I don't have to live on Triscuits? Can't help you there...my dinners are cashews.

Aren't fish tacos divine? Depends on where you get them, but for the most part, yes. But bad ones are REALLY REALLY BAD...

How does a person learn to order at Starbucks? "I want the most mondo chocolate caramel lotsa caffeine thingie you have". easybreezy

Whaddya think of the daily puppy pics I've added? TOO cute!!

Are your lips as chapped as mine? Not today, but I've got blistex silk & shine with me ALWAYS. ;-)

Awwww....I wuv you too. *smooch*

Was it too much tequila...
...or not quite enough? LOL

It was a blast hanging out and recollecting all the stories we could tell.

Can we get a "Amen, sister."

Nascar races?

I didn't know you lived in the trailer park.

Tug - I'm not sure which is worse, the triscuits or cashews. LOL

Mist - I know, they're addictive!

Dez - Amen! And believe it or not, I wasn't hungover the next day. Sleep-deprived, yes.

Rockdog - you do know I'm talking about actual fish, right? Heh.

Jeremy - nope - I only aspire to live in a trailer park.

OMG fish sticks !! That rocks. I bet if you get the swanky fish sticks they would be pretty good.

(swanky = more than $2.99 a box)

I watched Bobby Flay make the white sauce for them once, but I forgot what he put in it.

Nothing with wasabi shall ever be considered bad for you.

I realize now you meant actual fish tacos and not a metaphore which made my misread of "and our mutual love;" as "and we made love" make more sense too.

I care not about Britney. If she wants to shave her head and get tattoos.. whatever. People do it all the time. I just don't want to hear about it every minute.

If you find that wife that does all that, can I borrow her? We could work out a time-share program.

Starbucks requires many many wallet empting trips to master the order process. Just remember, the bean menu is not the drink menu, and the sizes are not small, medium and large. Everything else is master level ordering but not required.

No, my lips are fine, thanks for asking.

Oh...

Let me rethink this... ;)

Making new friends out of.....

Is this some kind of weekend home cloning project?

Lindy - I just made that up. Don't be looking at me like I'm some Rachel Ray. Seriously. But then again, if desperation does set in and you try it (w/the swanky sticks) do let me know how it turns out.

Sgt - You've got a deal on that wife-swapping thing. Wait, that didn't sound good at all. Will I need a doctorate to figure out Starbucks?

Rockdog - LOL

Willie - Yeah, I'm handy that way. Shut the F up.

I've never been into a Starbucks...

It's much too intimidating. ;)

Steven - yeah, me neither. All this talk of lattes and mochaccinos and frappaccinos and God knows what else. If I had a penis I'm sure it would shrivel up.

Are wasabi peas fattening? What are wasabi peas?

Is Britney Spears the next Anna Nicole Smith?
I don't think so...but I do remember thinking, right after Britney shaved her head: Man! I bet the Anna Nicole people are breathing a HUGE sigh of relief that the spotlight's off of them!

....and then they had that crazy judge preside over the burial trial. And Dateline covered it, all serious like. And now we're off Britney's head and back on to Anna's body.

Americans are weird.

Where can I get a wife to fix stuff around my house while I'm at work AND fix dinner for me so I don't have to live on Triscuits?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! Excuse me while I wipe tears of mirth from my eyes on this one...Hahahahahahaha! (Because you see, I'M a wife who wants to know these things, too) (Triscuits rock for dinner in my world, btw)(and if you live in my world, YOU will eat them! Yes you will! And you will not say a word! Not ONE word!)

Aren't fish tacos divine? YES!! Thank god I'm not the only one!

How does a person learn to order at Starbucks? I just order the same thing every time I come in and pretty soon, they start to recognize me as "Venti Decaf/room for cream" Girl.

Whaddya think of the daily puppy pics I've added? Cuteness!

Are your lips as chapped as mine?

Does peeling lips count? I hate when this happens. I wish spring would get here. I'm tired of dry, static shock air and peely lips.
